In Lübeck, there are events and festivals throughout the year, covering music festivals - some of which renowned festivals of classic music -, cinema festivals, markets and - last but not least in December - Christmas markets.
 



Public Festival Lübeck (Lübecker Volksfest)

The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival is a festival of classic music that takes place in July and August throughout Schleswig-Holstein. In Lübeck, the concerts are carried out for example in Lübeck's Cathredral, the church St. Annen and the Music and Congress Center Lübeck.


Travemünder Woche

For more than 100 years, the "Travemünder Woche" has been carried out for one week at the end of July every year in Travemünde. This huge sailing regatta is not only a national but an international event now.

Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival

Duckstein Festival

Every year in August, the Duckstein Festival takes place at the banks of the Trave River. At the Duckstein Festival not only concerts are presented, but also street theater and comedy. In addition, you can choose from quite a variety of culinary offers.

Sand World

In 2002, the first Sand World took place in Lübeck-Travemünde. From July to September, sculptors build statues made of sand on an extensive area at the Trave River every year. Unfortunately, the festival might be cancelled soon.


Nordic Film Days Lübeck (Nordische Filmtage Lübeck)

The Nordic Film Days Lübeck that take place every year in autumn were first held in Lübeck in 1971 and therefore are one of the film festivals in Europe or even worldwide with the longest tradition.

The films that are presented are mainly from the North and Northeast of Europe. But not only films are shown: The festival also offers discussions and seminars concerning the subject Nordic Films.

Christmas Markets

In the last week in November every year, Christmas markets are opened throughout Lübeck for about one month. They not only contribute to the atmosphere of the city to a large extent during that time, but also are an event you should not miss. The most important Christmas markets take place near the church St. Mary and St. Peter's Church for example.
