Burgkloster Lübeck

Founded in 1227, the Burgkloster in the north of the historic city center of Lübeck is one of the most important medieval monasteries in Northern Germany. Now, it houses an archeological museum as well as a cultural center dealing with architecture as well as the history of Lübeck and the Hanse.

Katharinenkloster

From the year 1225 until 1530, the Katharinenkloster in Lübeck used to be a Franciscan monastery. After its closure and the departure of the last Franciscan monk, the building complex was hardly changed. However, it started being used for different purposes: a Latin school and a library were established in the former monastery. Later, it was used as museum as well.

Monastery St. Annen

The monastery St. Annen and the adjacent church were built between 1502 and 1515 in late Gothic style. Unfortunately, the monastery was closed after a few years. At the beginning of the 17th century, it became a house for the poor and later, it was used as prison as well. In the middle of the 18th century, parts of the monastery and the church St. Annen burnt down. The monastery was reconstructed; of the church, only ruins are left. Later, the monastery St. Annen was rebuilt to a museum and in 1915, a museum was opened. Now, the museum houses for example an extraordinary collection of altars and statues from the Middle Ages.

Lütgenhof Castle

In Dassow, about 25 kilometers away from Lübeck and only a few kilometers away from Travemünde, there is the Lütgenhof Castle. Built around the middle of the 19th century, the Lütgenhof Castle now has quite much to offer: Since 2000, there has been a castle hotel as well as a restaurant in it. In addition, the castle is a great place for relaxation and wellness as well as for conferences and meetings.
